    All Ages Welcome to Volunteer 

    for a Single Sitting

    Artist selection takes place at the Opening Reception, October 1, 2 - 4 pm ARTS ESCAPE 88 Main Street South, Southbury, CT. 

    Meet with your artist for your single sitting during the month of October (preferably). 

    Optional: Come for the public unveiling of single-sitting portraits at the closing ceremonies October 28.

    Additional details:
    Who will create your portrait? Choose from the CSOPA Portrait Subject Artists who have agreed to create original head and shoulders portraits specifically for this event. 
    This is your opportunity to personally experience the ancient tradition of portraiture. You or your proxy select your artist during the opening reception from the special display of samples (above), and arrange to meet for one portrait sitting and/or photo studies during the month of October.     

    Preregistration ensures you or your proxy has priority in choosing a Portrait Subject Artist at the reception. ALL AGES WELCOME. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. 

    *Registration is free. There is no obligation for models to purchase, however you can acquire your portrait at the special event prices beginning at $500 for a single sitting head & shoulders, or negotiate with the artist for more complex work. A portion of proceeds benefit Arts Escape and CSOPA. Unsold portraits remain the property of the artists.

    **Plan to arrive at 1:30 before the general public enters at 2 pm. Your guests are welcome for early admission with you. If you want us to choose an artist for you, kindly specify on the registration form.

    Some of the Single Sitting Portraits will be unveiled during the Closing Ceremony on October 28. If your portrait is completed by then, you are welcome to invite family and friends to this exciting event.

    October 5, Thursday Field Trip New Britain Museum for a special docent-lead Face-to-Face Portraits Tour

    Seniors, students,* and general public are invited to join members of The Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists.

     Museum entry with tour is $15.

    Museum Tour + Copy Session is $20.

    We meet at Arts Escape at 10 am to view the CSOPA portrait exhibit together.

     Carpools then depart 10:30am. Group tour at the museum is 11am - 12:15pm. You can also meet us there. Museum entry with tour is $15. 

    Lunch will be in the Museum Cafe'. After lunch, group members not copying in the galleries will return to Arts Escape.

    An afternoon graphite copy session also is available for $5. Pencils only! Artists bring their own graphite and paper. Chairs and sketch boards will be provided by the museum.

    *Students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

    Portrait Drawing Demonstration

    Saturday, October 14

    Afternoon Session $25: 1 pm - 4 pm

    Silvermine instructor, Eddie Nino demonstrates how to draw the portrait. Topics of discussion will be light, likeness, basic portrait sequence, among others. The demo's information will be as valuable to draftsmen as well as painters of all mediums. 

      Maximum 15 people
